Bathroom Ceiling Transformation – From Bare Plaster to Sleek Perfection
Bathrooms are one of the most important rooms in any home — they need to be functional, but also a place where you can relax. A tired or unfinished ceiling can really let a space down, even if the rest of the room looks great.

This recent project shows just how much difference a new ceiling and lighting upgrade can make.

The Starting Point
When I arrived, the bathroom ceiling had just been freshly plastered. The old Artex was gone, but the room still felt unfinished and a little dark.

The Transformation Process
The ceiling was prepared and painted in a clean, bright Farrow and Ball All-white Modern Emulsion finish to maximise light and give the room a crisp, fresh feel. Once the surface was ready, modern recessed spotlights were installed, providing even lighting across the whole bathroom.

Not only do LED spotlights create a sleek, contemporary look, they’re also practical — especially in bathrooms where good lighting is essential.

The Result
The finished ceiling instantly lifts the entire room. The combination of a flawless painted surface and discreet, energy-efficient lighting makes the bathroom feel brighter, bigger, and more modern. The tiled walls now stand out beautifully under the new lighting, and the overall effect is calm, stylish, and functional.

This project is a great example of how small changes — like plastering, painting, and upgrading the lighting — can completely transform a space without needing a full renovation.
